Product description
Herregård Supermax is one of the test winners in Folksam's paint test 2018. It was tested against 47 of the most commonly used paints in the Nordic region, and Herregård Supermax is a test winner in functionality. It is among the best at preventing black mold/growth, cracking, and flaking.
Pre-treatment
The surface must be clean and dry. For new, primed, bare, and pressure-treated wood, apply 1 coat of Gjøco Oljegrunning (clear). New wood that has been left untreated for more than 4 weeks should be cleaned and steel-brushed before treatment with Gjøco Oljegrunning. End grain and cut surfaces must be thoroughly saturated with Gjøco Oljegrunning, 3–4 coats wet-on-wet. Previously treated surfaces should be cleaned with Gjøco Krafttvätt. Remove loose paint, stain, and wood fibers by scraping/brushing.
Priming
New and untreated bare wood should be primed with one coat of Gjøco Oljegrunning. End grain and cut surfaces must be thoroughly saturated with Gjøco Oljegrunning, 3–4 coats wet-on-wet.
Application
Apply 2 coats on new unplaned timber and 3 coats on new planed timber. For previously treated wood, apply 1–2 coats as needed.
Storage
Close the lid tightly. The paint must be transported and stored upright, in a dry place, and frost-free.
Waste management
Liquid paint must not be poured into drains or into nature but must be taken to an approved collection point for hazardous waste.

Herregård Supermax is suitable for external wood – new, old, stained, painted, or pressure-treated. It can also be used as a topcoat on primed metal and plastic on buildings.
How long does the paint last?
Herregård Supermax is a test winner in the 2018 Folksam paint test and is among the best against flaking, cracking, and black mold. With proper pre-treatment and application, you can expect very long maintenance intervals.
What does self-cleaning mean?
The self-cleaning property means that rain washes dirt and soot off the surface, which keeps the facade clean longer and reduces the need for washing and maintenance.
How much do I need?
Expect 6–8 m² per liter on unplaned wood and 8–12 m² per liter on planed wood. Measure your facade area and add approx. 10% for waste and edges.
What temperature can I paint in?
The minimum application temperature is +5°C for both air and surface. Low temperatures result in longer drying times. Do not paint if there is a risk of dew or rain before the paint film is dry.
Do I need to prime?
Yes, new and untreated bare wood must always be primed with Gjøco Oljegrunning first. End grain and cut surfaces require 3–4 coats wet-on-wet for the best protection.
Is the paint environmentally friendly?
The paint is water-borne, which makes it more environmentally friendly than solvent-based alternatives. However, liquid paint residues are classified as hazardous waste and must be taken to an approved collection point.
Can I paint it myself or do I need a painter?
You can definitely paint it yourself with a brush or roller. Spray painting, however, should be performed by professionals. Follow the instructions for pre-treatment and priming carefully for the best results.
