For staining wooden surfaces indoors
Osmo Oil Stain is used for staining wood indoors, transparently or intensely depending on the tool chosen and the number of applications. The stain is ideal for solid wood floors, parquet, ship deck flooring, and even stairs. It is approved according to EN 71.3 and is therefore also perfect for staining countertops, furniture, or other smaller wooden surfaces.
Vegetable oils
Osmo Oil Stain contains vegetable oils and organic pigments. It penetrates the wood and stains it, while still allowing the appearance of the wood to show through.

Light/medium stain
Use an Osmo Double Spatula and a machine with a white pad (floors), a white scouring pad, or an Osmo Easy Pad lint-free cloth (furniture/smaller surfaces). The colors can be mixed with each other to create new shades. The new 3500 Clear can be mixed into a standard color to achieve a lighter tone.
Intensive stain
Choose an Osmo Brush, Osmo Microfiber Roller 250 mm (floors), or Osmo Brush, Osmo Microfiber Roller 100 mm (furniture/smaller surfaces). It is possible to apply two coats on floors, but the second coat should be evened out with an Osmo Floor Machine and a white pad. Floors, furniture, and other stained surfaces subject to wear must always be finished with Osmo Hardwax-Oil Original. For professional use on larger floor areas, there is Osmo Hardener for Oil Stain which shortens the drying time.
Suggestions for finishes
- 3040, 3041, 3044 or 3240 - after white stains
- 3062, 3065, 3262 or 3362 - after light or white stains
- 3032, 3011, 3065, 3232 or 3332 - after dark stains
- For smoked wood types e.g., smoked oak or smoked ash, we always recommend Osmo Clear Wax 1101.
- For wood types or stains made with colors that are neither light nor dark, e.g., oak or pine, clear Osmo Hardwax-Oil is recommended.
- For furniture, Osmo Furniture Lacquer is also a perfect finish.
To ensure you are satisfied with the final result, always do a small test on the actual surface before treating the entire area.
