-The wall should be firm and clean, with no loose wallpaper flakes or putty dust.
-If you have not removed all old layers of wallpaper, which is recommended, it is a good idea to prime the wall with an insulating/blocking paint. This is done to reduce the risk of the old wallpaper underneath bubbling. Suitable paint includes Sigma Isotop Primer or Jotun's wallpaper primer. Once painted, sand lightly and wipe down with sugar soap.
-Where applicable, prime the wall, preferably white. The entire wall must have the same shade if the wallpaper is of the type mentioned in point 3 above.
