The Pad Saver is a thin interface pad developed to protect and extend the life of the backing pad. The Pad Saver is placed between the backing pad and the abrasive disc and should be replaced regularly for best results.

The Pad Saver from Mirka is used for sanding operations with Mirka's Abranet sanding products. Abranet has a thin construction that causes wear on the sander's backing pad during continuous and aggressive sanding. The Pad Saver reduces wear, which makes the backing pad last longer.
The durability of a Pad Saver varies depending on what is being sanded, how it is sanded, and how it is handled. Generally, the Pad Saver is replaced when signs of wear appear. Changing the Pad Saver frequently (every 15–30 sheets per Pad Saver) minimizes wear on the backing pad.
