Which surfaces is the joint tape suitable for?
The joint tape is intended for indoor use on plasterboard, cement boards, and similar panel joints in walls and ceilings. It is not suitable for outdoor use or damp environments without a vapor barrier.
Which filler should I use with the joint tape?
Use a filler approved for the application of paper tape, such as KNAUF Fill & Finish Light. The right filler is crucial for the tape to adhere properly and provide a durable joint.
How long does a correctly executed plasterboard joint last?
A correctly reinforced and filled plasterboard joint with paper tape lasts basically as long as the structure itself – often 30+ years – provided the substrate is stable and the right filler is used.
How much joint tape do I need?
Calculate the total length of all joints in the room. One roll is 76 m, which is enough for a normal room. Feel free to buy an extra roll as a buffer – it is cheaper than an extra trip to the store.
Do I need to prime or pretreat the substrate?
The plasterboards must be dry and free from dust. No priming is required before laying the joint tape, but ensure that the filler is applied evenly and covers the tape completely for the best results.
Can I lay the joint tape myself or do I need a tradesman?
An experienced DIYer can handle it perfectly with the right tools – a wide putty knife and patience. For larger areas or requirements for a perfect finish, an experienced painter or plasterboard contractor is recommended.
Is the product environmentally friendly?

Pretreatment
Ensure that the plasterboards are correctly installed, dry, and free from dust and loose particles. Check that screw heads are recessed below the surface. Work at room temperature (at least +5°C) and avoid drafts during the drying time.
Application
Apply a thin layer of filler along the joint with a wide putty knife. Lay the joint tape centered over the joint and press it firmly with the knife – work from the center outwards to avoid air bubbles. Immediately apply a thin covering layer of filler on top of the tape and smooth it out. Let it dry completely (at least 24 hours) before the next layer is applied. Sand lightly between layers for a perfectly smooth result.
