Product description

Herregård Supermax is one of the test winners in the Folksam paint test 2018. It tested 47 of the most used paints in the Nordic region, and Herregård Supermax is a test winner for functionality. It is among the best against black mold/growth, cracking, and peeling.

Pretreatment

The surface must be clean and dry. For new, primed, bare, and pressure-treated wood, apply 1 coat of Gjøco Oil Primer (Oljegrunning) clear. New wood that has stood untreated for more than 4 weeks should be cleaned and wire-brushed before treatment with Gjøco Oil Primer. End grain and cut surfaces must be thoroughly saturated with Gjøco Oil Primer, 3–4 coats wet-on-wet. Previously treated surfaces are cleaned with Gjøco Heavy Duty Cleaner (Krafttvätt). Loose paint, stain, and wood fibers are removed by scraping/brushing. On planed wood, glossy surfaces, side edges, and joints on exterior paneling, wire-brushing/sanding may be necessary to ensure adhesion. To achieve the best possible edge coverage, round off sharp edges before priming. Only spots (arising after wire-brushing/scraping) are treated with Gjøco Oil Deck Stain/Oil Paint in the same color as the topcoat before further treatment.

Priming

New and untreated bare wood should be applied with one coat of Gjøco Oil Primer. For extra good protection, a thin coat of Gjøco Oil Deck Stain/Oil Paint in the same color as the desired topcoat can be applied to factory-primed or impregnated wood before further treatment. End grain and cut surfaces must be thoroughly saturated with Gjøco Oil Primer, 3–4 coats wet-on-wet.

Application

Apply 2 coats on new unplaned wood and 3 coats on new planed wood. For previously treated wood, apply 1–2 coats as needed, possibly 3 coats on planed wood.

Note

Use the same production number for the same coat and the same surface to avoid gloss and color differences. If necessary, different production numbers can be mixed before use. Shade differences may occur if the bucket is tinted at different machines and/or at different times. Be aware of this if more paint is needed for the same project later on.

Storage

Close the lid tightly when storing paint to prevent spills and drying out. The paint should be transported and stored upright, dry, and frost-free.

Waste management

Liquid paint must not be emptied into drains or into nature but should be left at an approved collection point for hazardous waste. Empty, clean, and dry plastic packaging without handles can be disposed of as plastic waste.

Other information

The substrate must be firm, clean, and dry before the paint is applied. Substrates previously treated with linseed oil paint/stain can cause blistering. Previous tar treatment can cause discoloration that is particularly visible on light colors. Dew on a semi-dry surface can cause dull spots. Sun on a wet or semi-dry surface can cause surface drying and blistering. Do not use on beveled wood. Paint on fire-retardant cladding can cause salt efflorescence and peeling. The product must not be diluted or have foreign oils/products added. Bases must be tinted. Different batch numbers should be mixed before use.
