Metal Primer is used for treating rusty metal surfaces and untreated aluminum, primarily in combination with Protäck V, Roof Coating Paint, and Aquabarr®.

Which surfaces is the product suitable for?
Hagmans Metal Primer is suitable for rusty steel surfaces, untreated aluminum, and galvanized sheet metal. It is intended for outdoor use and is used as a primer before topcoats such as Protäck V, Roof Coating Paint, or Aquabarr®. NOTE: Do not use on plastisol-coated surfaces.
How long does the primer last?
Metal Primer is a primer and should always be recoated with a suitable topcoat. With the right surface preparation and topcoat application, the system can last for many years.
What does vapor-permeable mean?
Metal Primer is not a vapor-permeable product – instead, it is formulated to provide a dense anti-corrosion barrier on metal surfaces.
How much do I need?
Expect approx. 8 m² per liter. A 1-liter container is sufficient for a normal shed roof or a smaller roof area.
What temperature can I paint in?
Paint at an air and surface temperature between +7°C and +30°C. Do not paint in damp weather – maximum humidity 80% RH.
Do I need to prime?
Metal Primer is the primer itself. It is applied directly to a pre-treated metal surface and then recoated with a suitable topcoat after at least 3 hours.
Is the product environmentally friendly?
Yes, Metal Primer is water-borne with a low VOC content. Tools are easily cleaned with water. Store frost-free.
Can I paint it myself or do I need a painter?
You can paint it yourself using a brush, roller, or paint sprayer. Follow the pre-treatment instructions carefully for the best results.
