Transparent primer for roof tiles, masonry, and concrete.

Gjøco Primer for masonry and concrete is suitable for use on untreated masonry, concrete, brick, plaster, and concrete roof tiles before overcoating with a suitable topcoat. Brick must be plastered before overcoating. The primer is also well-suited as a dust binder and impregnating agent on garage floors, walls, and similar surfaces where painting is not desired. Recommended as a primer for roof tiles before overcoating with Gjøco Takdekk. The primer seals the pores in the roof tile and prevents frost damage and flaking.

Product Description

Pre-treatment

  • Loose mortar and plaster should be brushed/scraped off.
  • On new concrete/masonry that is to be painted after priming with Gjøco Primer for masonry and concrete, the cement laitance must be removed by mechanical sanding.
  • Cement and concrete roof tiles are cleaned with Gjøco House Wash and a pressure washer.
  • It is important that loose particles, algae, fungi, moss, and other contaminants are removed.
  • The substrate must be dry before applying Gjøco Primer for masonry and concrete.
  • When used on concrete and cement element surfaces, any moisture and release agents must be checked.

Application method

  • Gjøco Primer for masonry and concrete is ready to use and should generally not be thinned.
  • Apply 1-2 coats depending on the condition and absorbency of the substrate.
  • The primer should penetrate the substrate and not form a film.
  • Apply with a roller, brush, or sprayer.

Storage

  • Close the lid tightly when storing paint to prevent spills and drying out.
  • The paint should be transported and stored upright, in a dry and frost-free place.
