Installation & assembly
- On old frames, remove all loose putty.
- Where the putty is firm, cut or scrape away 2 - 3 mm of the putty closest to the glass and 2 - 3 mm closest to the frame so that the new putty layer has proper adhesion to both glass and window frame.
- Clean powder-coated surfaces with isopropanol. Adjust the nozzle diameter to the width of the glazing rebate.
- When applying putty on top of old, firmly attached putty, the putty layer should be at least 2 mm thick and in contact with both the glass and the frame (see point 4).
- For new glazing, the putty should form a triangle between the frame and the glass.
- If necessary, smooth the glazing rebate with a jointing tool or putty knife dipped in a mild soap solution (a little liquid soap in the water, avoid dish soap).
- The putty does not need to be painted over, but it is possible if desired; see information under paintability.
