Product description
Herregård Maximal is a durable and opaque emulsion paint for outdoor use, based on acrylate and water-borne alkyd. It has excellent adhesion, protects wood surfaces, and retains its gloss and color for a long time.
Contains film preservatives that prevent the growth of mold and algae.
Herregård Maximal can be used outdoors on new, old, stained, painted, or pressure-treated wood surfaces. Used in a system with Gjøco Oil Primer. Can also be used as a topcoat on primed metal and plastic found on buildings.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Pre-treatment: The surface must be clean and dry. Previously treated surfaces should be cleaned with Gjøco Power Wash. New and bare wood surfaces that have been left untreated for more than 4 weeks should be wire-brushed and washed with Gjøco House Wash before priming. On planed timber and other smooth, hard surfaces, wire-brushing/sanding may be necessary to ensure adhesion. Sharp edges should be rounded to ensure the best possible edge coverage. Loose paint/stain flakes and loose wood fibers must be removed by wire-brushing/scraping. Pressure-treated timber that may be wax or silicone treated must be degreased with, for example, methylated spirits.
Priming:
Apply one coat of Gjøco Oil Primer to new, untreated, bare, or treated timber and putty joints. End grain and cut surfaces should be well saturated with Gjøco Oil Primer, preferably 3-4 coats wet-on-wet.
Application
On new, untreated wood, apply 2 coats; on new planed wood, apply 3 coats. On previously treated wood, apply 1-2 coats as needed, or up to 3 coats on planed wood.
Storage
The product must be transported and stored in a dry, frost-free place. The product must be transported and stored in an upright position.
Waste disposal
Liquid paint should not be poured down the drain or into the environment, but must be delivered to an approved hazardous waste collection point.
OTHER INFORMATION
Different production batch numbers must be mixed before use to avoid gloss and color differences. The substrate must be firm, clean, and dry before applying the paint. Substrates previously treated with linseed oil paint/stain may cause blistering. Previous treatment with tar can lead to discoloration, which is especially visible in light colors. Dew on semi-dry surfaces can cause dull spots. Direct sunlight on wet or semi-dry surfaces can lead to skinning and blistering. Do not use on frozen surfaces. Painting on fire-retardant treated surfaces can cause salt efflorescence and peeling. The product must not be diluted or mixed with other oils/paint products. Bases are tintable with GjøcoMix. The application temperature of the air and substrate must be at least +5° C.
