Herregård Paintmaster is a water-borne self-cleaning oil-acrylic paint (hybrid) that is extra effective against mold and dirt accumulation. Herregård Paintmaster has a muted matte surface that provides superb color reproduction. Can be used outdoors on new, old, stained, painted or pressure-treated wood. Used in a system with Gjøco Oil Primer (Gjøco Oljegrunning). Herregård Paintmaster can also be used as a topcoat on primed metal and plastic such as gutters, fittings, etc. on buildings.
Product description
Pre-treatment
The surface must be clean and dry. Apply 1 coat of Gjøco Oil Primer on new and bare wood. New wood that has been untreated for more than 4 weeks should be cleaned and wire-brushed before treatment with Gjøco Oil Primer. All end grain and cut surfaces must be thoroughly saturated with Gjøco Oil Primer, 3–4 coats wet-on-wet. Previously treated surfaces should be cleaned with Gjøco Power Wash (Gjøco Krafttvätt). Loose paint, stain, and wood fibers are removed by scraping/brushing. On planed wood, glossy surfaces, side edges and rebates on exterior cladding, wire-brushing/sanding may be necessary to ensure adhesion. To achieve the best possible edge coverage, round off sharp edges before priming. Only spots (arising after wire-brushing/scraping) should be applied with Gjøco Oil Covering Stain/Oil Paint in the same color as the topcoat before further treatment.
Priming
New and untreated bare wood should be applied with one coat of Gjøco Oil Primer. For extra good protection, a thin coat of Gjøco Oil Covering Stain/Oil Paint in the same color as the desired topcoat can be applied to factory-primed or impregnated wood, before further treatment. End grain and cut surfaces must be thoroughly saturated with Gjøco Oil Primer, 3–4 coats wet-on-wet.
Application
Apply 2 coats on new unplaned timber and 3 coats on new planed timber. For previously treated wood, apply 1–2 coats as needed, possibly 3 coats on planed timber.
Note
Use the same production number for the same layer and surface to avoid gloss and color differences. If necessary, different production numbers can be mixed before use. Shade differences may occur if the bucket is tinted in different tinting machines and/or at different times. Be aware of this if more paint is needed for the same project later on.
Storage
Close the lid tightly when storing paint to prevent spills and drying. The paint must be transported and stored upright, dry and frost-free.
Waste management
Liquid paint must not be poured into drains or into nature but must be taken to an approved collection point for hazardous waste. Empty, clean and dry plastic packaging without handles can be delivered as plastic waste.
Other information
The surface must be firm, clean and dry before the paint is applied. Surfaces previously treated with linseed oil paint/stain may cause blistering. Previous tar treatment may cause discoloration, which is particularly visible on light colors. Dew on a semi-dry surface can cause matte spots. Matte spots can also occur when drying at high humidity and low temperatures. Sun on a wet or semi-dry surface can cause skin drying and blistering. Do not use on edged wood. Paint on fire-retardant cladding may cause salt efflorescence and peeling.
The application temperature of the air and surface must be at least +5 °C. Low temperature and dew can cause insufficient film formation/curing. The product must not be diluted or mixed with foreign oils/products.
