Placemat with a winding leaf pattern in a classic design by William Morris (1834-96). The pattern was originally created for wallpaper in 1872. An extensive collection of Morris's patterns can be found at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London - the world's leading museum of art and design. Made in Sweden. William Morris was an English designer and author, known as a leading figure of the Arts and Crafts movement during the 19th century. He was an influential supporter of the South Kensington Museum, now the V&A, and his company, Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co, was responsible for the decoration of the museum. Morris's designs are characterized by a love for wildflowers, plants, and birds. The material is FSC®-certified eucalyptus board with a printed paper top layer treated with a protective coating, making the product highly durable. The back is covered with a velvety flocked paper, ensuring the placemat stays firmly in place. Made in Sweden. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
